ABOUT CARO

I’m Caro, founder and designer behind not white studio.

I studied fashion and graphic design in Munich and spent many years working as a graphic and fashion designer – developing jersey, T-shirts and denim, mainly for international fashion companies.

Later, I worked as Head of Design for start-ups, building collections, visual worlds and products from scratch.

At some point, I wanted to create things without endless trend forecasts, sell-through spreadsheets and corporate filters in between.

So I started not white studio.

It began with acrylic mobiles – inspired by light, movement and the way colour changes a room. From there, the studio grew into something much broader: interior objects, typography, fashion, personalized pieces and products somewhere between design object and everyday favourite.

Today, I still work as a freelance design consultant for brands, but most of my energy goes into not white studio – developing new products, graphics, colours, shoots and everything around the label.

Basically: back where I started.
Just on my own terms.

AND THEN THERE’S MATTHIAS.

Matthias supports not white studio with a journalistic eye, very strong opinions and absolutely no problem saying when something is not good enough.

Which is surprisingly useful.

Together, we question ideas, wording, products and sometimes each other.

The final decision?
Usually mine.

MADE WITH INTENTION

We try to make things responsibly wherever possible.

Our acrylic products are made from 100 % recycled acrylic glass and combined with materials such as untreated beech wood.

Many pieces are produced or finished in Germany, and our textiles are made from organic cotton and printed in Munich.

We don’t believe the world needs more random stuff.

But it can definitely use better stuff.
